1962, Clonakilty Urban Council presentation to Mr. Charles R. Cullinane on the occasion of his impending marriage.

The presentation was noted in ‘Comments from Clonakilty’ section of the Southern Star of 28 April 1962:

Members and officials of Clonakilty Urban Council met at O’ Donovans Hotel last week to make a presentation to one of their members, Mr. Charles R. Cullinane on the occasion of his impending marriage.

Attendance included: Messers C. O’ Neill (Chairman), D. J. Kingston (Vice-Chairman), C. O’ Donovan, J. Reilly, T. Hayes, J. P. O’ Regan, Mr. Spiller, L. Ahern (Acting Town Clerk), D. Hart (Town Surveyor) S. O’ Donovan (Town Foremen).

Mr. Cullinane, who was elected at the last elections, is the youngest member of the Council. The presentation took the form of an eight-day mantel clock suitably inscribed and made by Mr. O’ Neill who wished him and the future Mrs Cullinane many years of marital happiness, comments which were endorsed by all those present. During the proceedings, Mr. Ahern apologised for the unavoidable absence of the Manager, Mr. T. A. Hayes, and who wished to be associated with the presentation, Mr. Cullinane suitably replied.
