The Southern Star had a report on the show in the Clonakilty Comments section of the paper published on 15 August 1964:

‘At a recent meeting of the show committee of Clonakilty Agricultural Society, it was reported that this year’s fixture created new records. Total entries exceed 2,000, an all-time record in the history of the show. Reports from the judges indicated that the high standard of exhibits especially in livestock classes, was without precedent, the judges of the Irish draught horse classes stated that the brood mare “Irish Molly” owned by Peter O’ Neill, Bengour, Newcestown was the best he had ever seen. Total receipts of show day and show dance exceeded the previous record by more than €200.’
