This photo was recently sent to the archive by Angela Healey. It was taken before Tony Bluett arrived in Clonakilty in 1958 so it’s not one of his pictures. A rider on horseback dressed up in a costume is leading a horse drawn caravan. The crowds are out to watch the spectacle on what appears to be a wet summer’s day. Perhaps it was part of a rag parade in the town?

Angela’s best guess is the event happened in the early 1950s. She would love to know if anyone has information on what the event was and who was riding the horse dressed as the Lone Ranger?
