At the opening ceremony for the Festival of West Cork, the Hall of Fame Award was presented by Terry McCarthy of Thomas McCarthy & Sons Ltd (Copeley St. Cork and Upton) who had sponsored the award for many years. He presented it to Mr Maurice Hickey M. Ch. F.R.C.S. of St. Stephens Hospital Sarsfield Court, an internationally renowned surgeon.
